Payne, Ellis, and myself were at Bells residence, our tires having been slashed. Our first order of business was to investigate the house from which the woman who slashed our tires came. Based on our findings there, we determined that the woman had no connection to that house, and was just staked out, as it were. At this point, we proceeded to check out the Greek restaurant, Suvlakis, to which we found reference in Bells wallet. Before we entered, I called the police department at Paynes suggestion and got the name of the CEO and a list of main shareholders in Cross & Associates, the investment firm Bell was connected with. This turned up nothing suspicious. Agent Massicotte of the Evidence Response Team (ERT) told us that they had retrieved from Bells hard drive a file with the names of three individuals, Mel Riley, Fern Gauvin, and Hartleigh Trent. Also found was a password, god_assists, for Eudora. The license number we retrieved belonged to a Sarah Kendell, of Providence, RI. Kendell was also pictured on a photgraph found in Bells home. The photograph depicted Bell, Kendell, and a man later identified as Andrew Vylander, standing in front of the statue of a Christian saint, which Massicotte identified as St. Nilus. He added that he had found interesting information pertaining to Nilus. We will get this information later. The restaurant proved to be a small place frequented by college students. Questioning the two Greeks working the counter, we quickly determined that they knew Andrew Vylander, and that he was a regular customer. In fact, he left, apparently in a hurry, shortly before we arrived. Agent Massicotte called me again with Vylanders address. Based on the Delta Green briefing I had received, I advised that we proceed with extreme caution to Vylanders apartment. My advice was questioned by Agent Payne, who wished to know why Vylander should be approached with caution. I invented several stories about Vylander being a dangerous individual--however, it seemed Payne didnt believe my cover story. He was on the verge of calling the Miami Field Office of the DEA when, after discussion between Agent Ellis and myself, we decided to extend a Delta Green invitation to Payne, and therefore to make him privy to the information. We decided to conduct the briefing in the car, however, so that we would have less chance of being overheard. Agent Ellis and myself briefed Payne on the information we had learned, which indicated that Kenneth Bell had been a test subject in the DIAs Project GRILLFLAME, a series of experiments dealing with remote viewing, a form of psychic activity. Apparently, Bell had a 97% accuracy ratio with imagery obtained through remote viewing. We also conjectured that the photograph found at Bells home might imply that Vylander, and probably Kendell, were psychics, as well. Later research confirmed that the three individuals named in the file from Bells computer were also remote viewers. At Vylanders apartment, we decided to split up, Agent Ellis remaining downstairs at the elevators, and Payne and myself investigating the apartment. Before entering, Ellis informed me that Vylander had apparently left out the window and down the fire escape before we arrived. Payne and I found a half-packed suitcase lying on the bed. At this point, Dave Bowman, an individual between the ages of 17-20 and apparently a friend of Vylanders, entered the apartment. Payne confronted Bowman with suspicions that he had tipped off Vylander that we were approaching. We took Bowman downtown for questioning.
